How to Set Up TikTok Interactive Games with OBS Studio
Setting up your TikTok interactive game in OBS Studio is easy, but it's different from what many guides suggest. Our system is more stable because it doesn't use a "Browser Source." This guide shows you the correct, reliable method using the TiktokBox app and "Game Capture".
Step 1: Run the TiktokBox App (The "Engine")
This is the most important step. Before you open OBS, you must run your TiktokBox software and log in.
This app is the "engine" that connects your stream. It runs in the background, securely reads your LIVE gifts, and deducts points (1 Diamond = 1 Point). This app is what tells your game to trigger the effects.
You must leave this app running in the background.
Step 2: Add Your Game to OBS Studio
Now, let's get your game to show up on your stream.
- Open **OBS Studio**.
- In the "Sources" panel (usually at the bottom), click the **"+" (Add)** button.
- Select **"Game Capture"**. This is the most efficient method for capturing games like *Starcraft 2*, *Dota 2*, or *Getting Over It*.
- Give your source a name (e.g., "Starcraft 2 Game") and click "OK".
- In the "Properties" window that appears:
- Set **Mode** to "Capture specific window".
- Set **Window** to find your game's .exe file (e.g., `[sc2.exe]: Starcraft II`).
- Click "OK". You should now see your game in your OBS scene.
- If "Game Capture" doesn't work: Some games (especially older or indie ones) work better with **"Window Capture"**. Repeat the steps, but choose this source instead and select the game's window from the list.
Step 3: Go LIVE!
That's all there is to it. As long as:
- The TiktokBox App is running.
- Your Game is running.
- Your "Game Capture" source is visible in your OBS scene.
...our system will automatically connect everything. When a viewer sends a gift, the TiktokBox App will see it, deduct the points, and instantly trigger the effect in your game. No "Browser Source" or special URLs needed!
Why is this a Better OBS Setup?
Many systems built for other platforms rely on "Browser Sources" in OBS. These can be laggy, use a lot of CPU, and sometimes crash, taking your game interaction down with it.
Our method uses a dedicated app and direct Game Capture. This is far more stable, uses fewer resources, and ensures your interactive effects are instant and reliable, every single time.
